ABBEY NEWS
ABBEY CHURCH AND STORE WILL BE CLOSED
FROM FRIDAY, SEPT. 30th TO SATURDAY, OCT. 5th
DUE TO RENOVATIONS OF FRONT PARKING AREA.
WILL REOPEN SUNDAY, OCT. 6th IF ALL GOES WELL.
Ready To Go
A few days before the work is to begin on the front parking area the contractors are lining up their equipment so they can get an early start Monday morning.
The renovation will involve tearing up the old asphalt and sub base which is poorly compacted. An electric line is to be installed so that a new set of lights can be installed along the west edge to match those on the East.
If they are not rained out the work is to be expected be complete in time for Sunday opening.
Lectio Notebook
What I understand from Jesus is that we cannot meet God except in the ordinary-ness of people and things. This is how they become sacred and unique. The Incarnation makes me more human. And perhaps the only way to contemplate the wonders of God is to explore the depth of the human being, which is the very ground of divinity. To be more human, in a sense, to be more divine.
The adventure of the true disciple of the incarnate Christ is to live an intelligent faith in order to know, search for, seek Christ behind the masks that everyone uses to protect himself from everyone else, and the from Him too. Christ is born when we get rid of all these masks and become our true selves, when we recover our likeness of God and when we become other Christs.
