Special Feature – TV News
This past Wednesday, August 29th, Fox Rochester/13 WHAM TV News visited our bakery and renovation project as part of their early news program. During the program they toured the bread bakery and the specialty bakery during operations and concluded with a brief tour of the renovation of the new store. They kindly sent along the link to their web site featuring the program.
The program consists of six separate segments of several minutes duration each segment. To access the site go to Abbey Tour and click on the opening window. Individual segments appear below. When one segment is finished click on the next one below it. Depending on the speed of your PC it takes some time to down load each segment. Here at the Abbey we found the Chrome browser to be the most efficient.
Tomorrow Abbot Gerard will return after a week’s stay at our monastery of New Melleray in Dubuque, Iowa . There he was co-visitator with Abbot Peter McCarthy, Father Immediate of O. L. of Guadalupe, for the community’s visitation. According to the Constitutions of the Order the Father Immediate is to make a visitation of his daughter houses once every two years and may ask a co-visitator to assist.

Fear and the troubled heart are what the redeemer puts far from those who believe in him. His gift of eternal life, not so much because it is eternal life but because it is a gratuitous and unearnable gift removes the root of fear and apprehension form the heart of all who believe in him.
It is therefore, not easy to comprehend how Christians have allowed their lives to be lived with so much fear, trepidation and even despair. It is more in comprehensible still how the preachers of the “good news” have elevated that fear into the status of dogma, have perverted “perfect love casts out fear” (1 John 4:18) to read, “perfect fear casts out love.”
