All’s Wonderfully Quiet These Days
Since no Abbey News has been posted for the past couple of weeks I thought it might be worth mentioning that nothing much news worthy has been going on these days. Things have been relatively quiet lately as we move into the winter season with our first light snowfall of the season the other day. Preview of coming attractions.
New Book
Actually a bit of news is the new book that may be of interest to some. Brother Jude and the Blueberries is the heartwarming story of Brother Jude, a gentle, huge hearted monk and his misadventures (that always seem to work out). Written by Father Isaac Slater of the Abbey of the Genesee with stunning illustrations by Christopher Tupa. An excellent story for kids (and adults) with a truly loving message. This will make a great gift for someone special. You’ll find it available at the Abbey Bread store and on line at Br. Jude & the Blueberries.
Meanwhile, we continue pursuing our rich contemplative life of prayer, spiritual reading, work supported and encouraged by one another. Rest assured we continue praying for the needs and intentions of all our families, friends, benefactors and the special prayer intentions we regularly receive. Speaking of prayer intentions we encourage you to pray for vocations to our community.
Lectio Notebook
Now to will what God wills is already to be like God, to be able to will only what God wills is already to be what God is; for him to will and to be are the same thing. Therefore it is well said that we shall see him fully as he is when we are like him that is when we are what he is.
For those who have been enabled to become sons of God have been enabled to become not indeed God, but what God is: holy, and in the future, fully happy as God is. And the source of their present holiness and their future happiness is none other than God himself who is at once their holiness and their happiness.
