Blessing Of Renovated Gatehouse Area
Yesterday we celebrated the grand opening of the renovated gatehouse area. The celebration began at 4:30 PM with an organ recital by diocesan organist and choir director, John Morabito, accompanied by abbey schola for one piece.
This was followed by Vespers at 5:00, procession and blessing of Merton Hall and Abbey Bread Store concluding with a reception for our guests in Merton Hall prepared by our ever efficient and generous bread store staff. Compline followed in the Church at 7:30.

Lectio Notebook
What the miracles of Jesus symbolize is that the Reign of God coming into the world brings about a new kind of harmony between God and humanity, between the individual and the community, between the community and the earth that is both transformative and redemptive in its effects.
Whenever God and humanity draw closely together, whenever the community respects the primacy of the individual, and whenever humanity reveres the life of nature, then truly extraordinary things begin to happen in the world around us like healing, forgiveness and communion. This coming together of God and humanity, this special regard for the individual within the community, this respect for the harmony of life between humans and the earth took place in the ministry of Jesus and can take place today in the Christian community with equally extraordinary results.
